Tile rooftops top one of many historic neighborhoods in Lisbon, Portugal, which sits on the west side of the Tagus River. Lisbon is the only European capitol with warm, sandy Atlantic beaches stretching for miles in either direction.
Lisbon’s grand seafaring heritage and passion for the sea is marked by Henry the Navigator’s epic voyages of the early 1400s, when Portugal was the first nation to discover ocean routes to India, Brazil, China and Japan.
