It’s the women who buy and sell in the marketplaces. Men may bring in the fish and work the fields, but it’s women who auction off the fish and hawk it through the village streets and neighborhoods.
And they are the ones to stand all day at the market stalls with baskets of produce and hand-made artifacts to sell to other local women. They are very engrossed in getting their bargains, and seldom notice Jack McConnell taking their photograph.
