Two elderly women wait for the bus in front of G. Fox department store on Main Street in Hartford. They seem to be longtime friends who have known each other long enough to have worn the same kind of bikini beachwear as the mannequin who looks over their shoulder.
They’ve shared many a cup of tea in each other’s kitchen as they guided their children to maturity. And now they share stories of their grandchildren and laugh about old family crises, long solved and survived. How they got to be this age is a mystery to them, catching them almost by surprise.
