The plaster copy of the Genius of Connecticut, originally cast as bronze sculpture and placed atop the Capitol dome, stands in the North Lobby of the Capitol, Hartford, Connecticut. During World War II, the bronze statue was melted down as part of the war effort. In the foreground stands a glass encased cornice carved from the historic Charter Oak tree.
